RAUN Data Policy and Confidentiality

Protecting your data is of particular importance to us. This policy describes the information we collect to support the website of the Regional Academy on the United Nations (RAUN).

What kind of information do we collect?

To provide the services offered by RAUN, we collect information of our members, participants of our programs, and others who wish to be informed about our programs through our newsletter and updates. We collect information such as names and pictures of our team members and participants of our programs for the sole purpose of displaying who is part of these, and registering them for various activities that require sharing this information with our partners. We also collect email addresses of those who subscribe to our newsletter.

How do we use this information?

We use the information as described above.

How is this information shared?

Your information will not be shared with third parties without your consent. However, since the information is available on a public domain, everyone with access to the Internet can view this information. We do not sell your information for any purpose.

How can you exercise your rights provided under the General Data Protection Regulation?

Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to have your data deleted. You also have the right to object to and restrict certain processing of your data. If you wish your data to be deleted, object or restrict certain processing of your data please contact us at raun-communications@ra-un.org.

Data retention and account deletion?

We store data until it is no longer necessary to provide our services or until your profile is deleted - whichever comes first. This is a case-by-case determination that depends on things like the nature of the data, why it is collected and processed, and relevant legal or operational retention needs.

When a profile of RAUN website is deleted, all information related to it is also deleted, such as photos and names. It is not possible to recover this information once it is deleted.

Information about social media?

Facebook social plugins and Facebook buttons

Our online services use social plugins (“plugins”) from the social network facebook.com, operated by Facebook Ireland Ltd., 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Ireland (“Facebook”).

When a user calls a function containing one of these plugins through our online services, the device makes a direct connection to the Facebook server. The content of the plugin is transmitted directly to the user’s device by Facebook which then integrates it into the online services. When doing so, user profiles of the users may be generated from the processed data. We have no influence on the scope of data collected by Facebook from this plugin, and can therefore only inform our users to the best of our knowledge.

Twitter buttons

We use buttons from the service Twitter. These buttons are provided by Twitter Inc., 795 Folsom St., Suite 600, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. By using the buttons you can share a post or a page from our website on Twitter or follow us on Twitter.

If you access one of our online services’ websites that has a Twitter button, your browser creates a direct connection to the Twitter servers. The content of the Twitter buttons is transmitted directly to your browser by Twitter. We therefore have no influence on the scope of data collected by Twitter from this plugin, and can only provide you with information to the best of our knowledge.

Incorporation of other third-party services and content

We may also incorporate content of third parties (hereinafter “third-party providers”), such as videos from YouTube, forms and maps from Google or graphics from other websites into our online services. This integration always requires your IP address to be transmitted to these third-party providers. We have no influence on third parties if they store IP addresses, for example for statistical purposes. If we are aware of this, we will also inform you.

Data protection information about the newsletter and MailChimp

By subscribing to our newsletter, you declare that you consent to receive the newsletter and to the procedures described below.

Content of the newsletter

We only send newsletters, emails and other electronic communication with promotional information (hereinafter the “newsletter”) if recipients have given their consent or it is legally permitted. Our newsletter informs you about our activities (e.g. information about our sessions, conferences, workshops, discussions, presentations, etc.) and about general Regional Academy on the United Nations’ announcements. We may also send you information about our partners’ activities, projects and events.

Subscription data

You only need to provide your email address in order to subscribe for the newsletter. We will never pass your data to third parties without your consent.

Changes to this privacy policy

RAUN has the discretion to update this privacy policy at any time. When we do, we will revise the updated date at the bottom of this page. We encourage users to frequently check this page for any changes to stay informed about how we are helping to protect the personal information we collect. It is your responsibility to review this privacy policy periodically and become aware of modifications.
